| Indore is situated on the Malwa plateau at an altitude of 553 m above sea level, on the banks of two small rivulets - the Saraswati and the Khan and derives its name from the 18th century Indreshwar temple. Located in Central India (approx.76o E, 23o N), far from the sea.
Today Indore can boast of a phenomenal industrial and business development. Indore’s infrastructure is rapidly improving in terms of IT Companies, Educational Institutions, Telecommunication and Power, finance and Banking Institutions, Medical Facilities, Industries, Hotels and Public Transportation System.
The population of Indore is 28 lakh as per the current census, and it is expected to grow to 40 lakh as large numbers of people are migrating towards indore city. The people coming are not only from cities from same state but also from other states like Gujurat, Kerela, Maharastra for quality education, business and peaceful life.

Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport connects Indore to many important cities in India with major airlines operating on these routes. Airport has good infrastructure and facilities. It has also started a free wireless internet connectivity using Wi-Fi technology.
Railways
Indore is one of the major commercial railway station of western railway. Indore is well connected via train services to all parts of the country including 3 metros. There are direct trains to Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata (Howrah), Trivandrum, Ahmedabad, Pune, Jammu, Jaipur, Lucknow, Bhopal, Nagpur, Patna and other major towns. Indore junction is the main station serving most of the important and long distance trains.
Roads
Indore is fairly well connected to other parts of Madhya Pradesh and India with national and state highways. The Agra-Bombay national highway (NH3) passes through Indore. The city is connected to the Khandwa town towards the south of the city. In the North-West, the city is connected to the holy city of Ujjain via Ujjain Road.
